I plan on using this component to replace an aging set of components
that do not support secure link and was wondering if there is any talk
about abolishing these controls in the fpWeb package anytime soon ?

 I plan on using these in the 32 bit target to start with...

 Anything I should know on the horizon ?

I don't think so, it's used AFAIK by Online Package Manager.

It is a core package for FPC and part of the standard distribution.
Those do not tend to deprecate soon and are well maintained.
Furthermore it is also the most modern one from all the core provided
solutions and 100% portable native Pascal.
