Create my first Server Web application lazarus / 38-Networking and Web Programming ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Saylo_49 · 2020-05-07 18:24 Hello, I want to start developping a Web server application, but I have no clue where and how to start. What I am looking for is to create an app to be hosted on shared web hosting servers (powered by Linux, and Apache or Nginx server). This server app will be running 24/7, and it will do two tasks : Receive data from client apps installed anywhere (mobile or desktop, created in Pascal or other languages). This data are juste strings (OS version, current time, etc.) sent on FormCreateAnd, send messages to the client apps, this messages can be parsed by the client apps as notifications or something else This server app will not use any SQL database (MySql and else). But it must store data in a specified scheme in text files on the Web Host. The user (me) can access this server app in the browser or by REST API to : Read the received data (for analytical purpose).Retrieve the archived dataTo write and send messages to client apps Please is there a specifique way to achieve this ? Please tell which tutorial, which packages and which component to use. ___________________________________ P.S : I know, there is commercial and free business-grade solutions and services that can do this, but they do not support programming desktop apps nor mobile apps developped in pascal. They only provide Java, Kotlin and Swift plugins and code snippets. And neither pascal-specifique tutorial about how to use them (in Delphi or Lazarus) actually worked nor those tutorials writers answered my support demands or bug reports. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- egsuh · 2020-05-08 07:05 You can write both web-server and web client in FPC. For server, you may use fpweb, and for client, "synapse" allows you to communicate with webservers within Lazarus application (in my case, Windows application).  And many other ways. And here are interesting discussion posts (according to the research skills of everyone in the forum): · https://forum.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,10814.msg54008. html#msg54008 · https://forum.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,6377.msg29972.h tml#msg29972 · https://forum.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,6361.msg29875.h tml#msg29875 · https://forum.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,12757.msg66546. html#msg66546 ...
