FiddlerCore from Delphi lazarus / 38-Networking and Web Programming ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eminem · 2019-12-22 23:31 Hi all. I'm doing some er.. lets say market research. Im sure you know about Fiddler and FiddlerCore used to capture e.g. Http traffic. Now I know fiddler(core) is a .Net product. and cannot be used from Delphi (or COM). My question is.. if I managed to get it to work (using FiddlerCore from delphi) how interested would you be in such a product? What value would you put it at? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zamronypj · 2019-12-23 01:33 If i need to capture and analyze network traffic (not only http), wireshark is my selected tool. If you want to build network traffic analyzer application or component, you need to look at wireshark features. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Thaddy · 2019-12-23 06:46 I use libpcap for that from packages/pcap. Works with winpcap too. It is pretty much the industry standard. But you can also use fcl-web, since it supports proxying. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MarkMLl · 2019-12-23 08:24 Pcap is the de-facto API, anything else is effectively built on top. But anybody starting to look at it needs to know that its filtering expressions have some nasties particularly if things like VLANs are involved. There's also (on Linux etc.) TZSP if you like living dangerously. MarkMLl ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eminem · 2019-12-23 08:43 Thank you for the replies. But libpcap is not my aim. Not everyone wants to inspect packets etc (even though its awesome to have that skill) . My market research is more based for those who have used fiddler and want similar capabilities in their programming language of choice. Fiddler offers an API that makes things so much simpler. But their API is set to only run on .net. I however have managed to get it working with COM and hence any programming language or platform that supports it. Perhaps its best to have a look at fiddler and decide if you want to be able to add similar capabilities to your software. The COM API will be similar to the existing one and operate the same way ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MarkMLl · 2019-12-23 08:59 We're just telling you what you're likely to be using at the low level to get it working :-) MarkMLl ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Thaddy · 2019-12-23 10:10 Indeed. Also note wireshark is build on top of pcap too. Side note: I wrote something similar many moons ago for KOL based on winpcap. It is still available here: https://github.com/rofl0r/KOL/tree/master/kolsniffer Not perfect but extremely small. And also compiles for KOL-FPC, Windows only. Can probably port it within one day to be cross- platform.
