[SOLVED] Lazarus crash after installing LNet lazarus / 38-Networking and Web Programming ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lennit · 2015-12-04 17:20 Hello, I just had a very interesting occurance while installing the LNet package. First I put it on one machine, running Win 7, without any problems, I even ran some tests there. Next, I installed on another Win 7 machine and that led to a total crash of Lazarus. It couldn't load at all and kept 4 lazarus.exe processes open in Task Manager after a restart of the computer - and I don't have Lazarus in the start up list. Even uninstalling didn't help, neither endless pressing of End Process/ End Process Tree. Finally I went in Safe mode and removed it the cruel way. After that I downloaded Lazarus again and installed it. This time I installed the LNet first, just to be sure it won't interfere with something else (stupid I know, but better be safe than sorry). Exactly the same problem happened. Before I do back to Safe mode, what could have caused that failure, taking the fact that both machines run Win 7 32bit, with similar Intel processors, same RAM and so on... P.S. By the way at the moment my RAM usage is unbelievably high, 46%, with no applications running, apart from and antivirus and those 3 lazarus.exe. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lennit · 2015-12-04 18:14 UPDATE: After removing Lazarus once more, I tried the compiled version of one simple application using LNet on that second computer. It was working on computer #1, but at attempting to start it on computer #2 I got the same problem - 3 processes project1.exe in Task Manager and no actual application running. I have the Client.connect and so on functions at button.onClick so it crashed without even getting to them. I guess it's a Windows problem and my system needs to be reinstalled... Though, I am not sure where exactly is the problem. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marq01 · 2015-12-07 21:25 I have the some problem but I am unable to pinpoint the culprit. Suddenly Lazarus doens not start anymore. I rolled back the last system update and installed Lazarus again and it worked (6/12). Today (7/12) no go again no Lazarus. What to do? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2015-12-07 21:59 Quote from: lennit on December 04, 2015, 06:20:30 pm P.S. Put Lazarus + its projects directories in the excludes of your antivirus. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Deepaak · 2015-12-08 02:50 which antivirus solution are you using. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- linnemann · 2015-12-08 06:25 THIS -> Quotewhich antivirus solution are you using. I've been using Avast and it has become increasingly more strict about running files. I see the same 3 processes running and nothing ever happens. This is not only for Lazarus or FPC compiled programs, but also from other sources. The fix is to go under "file protection" in Avast and under the exclude list add the dir to where you want to run your program from. You can also add the specific exe file to the exclude list to make it a little more secure. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lennit · 2015-12-08 09:37 Thank you all! Yes, the culprit computer #2 has Avast, while computer #1 doesn't... A simple deactivation of the shields now let everything run smoothly. I'll have to check with different systems now to see if I'll have problems with clients' settings. Thank you again! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Marq01 · 2015-12-08 18:55 Thank you for pointing out. Avast was too strict and with an exclusing rull, Lazarus worked again.
