Indy10 and Freepascal lazarus / 38-Networking and Web Programming ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BSaidus · 2015-01-18 09:27 Hello freinds . I'm writing a full futured mail server (smtp(s), pop3(s)) with the possibility of integatation of spamassassin and antivirus + other usefull controls. so I used : Indy, Zeos, MySQL. I first begin the project in Delphi7 and it almost finished, so It works well, mainly speed. Since to use Delphi you must have a lisence, I decided to switch to Lazarus that I found a wonderful project  but :   1. the previous code (mailserver) compiled under Lazarus/Freepascal is so slow that the connection losts with clientd. I wonder why ??   I searched on internet and I found that there is a problems adapting Indy with Lazarus/Freepascal (Bug in Freepascal (or future not supported yet in FPC)).   So What you advise me to do.  Ah: I know this is not the right place to ask but I will risk: Please can you tell me how to get a GPL license for my mailserver since I want to give it as Opensource project .   Thanks you !! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Windsurfer · 2015-01-18 09:54 I can't help with the technical query, but with respect to the GPL question, if you are the author of all of the code used, then you issue the license. See http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html. For all included code, you need to check the license, and work in accordance with it. This means that different licenses may apply to different parts of your finished project. You probably do not have to apply to anyone, unless there is commercial code included. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2015-01-18 16:39 I'm not aware of such problem. Do you have a reference for that ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BSaidus · 2015-01-19 09:46 Quote from: marcov on January 18, 2015, 05:39:38 pmI'm not aware of such problem. Do you have a reference for that ? Simply when mailing a message of 1.5MB to the server it take a lot of time to finally hanging. But the same server compiled under Delphi works well I have a 8GB machine, VBOX and Win 7 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2015-01-19 10:29 That is an enormous helicopter view. The only realistic approach is to upgrade to the most recent version of Indy (of the fulgan ftp), and retest. If still the problem, debug it. There are no known problems of the sort, it might be something unique for your case (and Indy's mail system with its umpteen nested mime classes is one of the parts I like least) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BSaidus · 2015-01-21 06:16 Hi; After many test I constat that the speed decrease only when I set Intercept property of TidSMTPserver to TIdServerInterceptLogEvent. Thank you!
