xml and charset lazarus / 38-Networking and Web Programming ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tintinux · 2014-01-03 10:58 Hi I'm using Lazarus 1.0.14 and FPC 2.6.2. In the small example attached, I read a XML file which is definitely UTF-8. The raw display is always OK, in UTF-8, in the Memo1. On Linux Ubuntu GTK2, no problem, the parsed content is also displayed as expected. On Windows (XP - 32 bits or 7 - 64 bits) with the same sources and input file, the parsed content, (displayed in Edit1) looks converted in another charset (ISO8859), and then the accentuated characters are not displayed as expected. Yes, I can convert back to UTF8 (as I do in Edit2 on Windows), but I would like to understand why this is required, why is there such a conversion on Windows ! Am I missing something ? Thanks for your help ! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dgaspary · 2014-01-03 16:38 Problably will not solve your problem, but better to use "Laz2_" version of XML units, They are meant to work better with UTF8. in your case the units Laz2_xmlread and Laz2_DOM, from the LazUtils Package. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tintinux · 2014-01-06 12:21 Hi The new units solve my problem. Thanks a lot ! Isn't it possible to deprecate or at least add a warning in the old units ? It would save time to others in the future ! Regards, Tintinux
