WEB SERVICE: HOW? lazarus / 38-Networking and Web Programming ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zzzato · 2013-05-03 08:08 Hi, all. I'ma delphi developer since 1997. Now I need a web service that runs on linux machine. I took web service toolkit: http://wiki.freepascal.org/Web_Service_Toolkit but doesn' t work. Simply, lazarus can not compile it. Last news at link has 2006 year date. Thanks for any help. There are posts from this year in the project's Google Group. The author Inoussa OUEDRAOGO answers: --- > are any plans to make WST design time package compilable with fpc 2.6.2 release ? Yes, I am just too busy at the moment. --- It sounds like he would need help with the component. It would be a usefull component. I would perhaps need it, too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zzzato · 2013-05-03 09:45 Hi. > are any plans to make WST design time package compilable with fpc 2.6.2 release ? > Yes, I am just too busy at the moment. Thanks for your anwer. I'm working on mixed project.. A delphi win32 client and a  php web site hosted  on linux debian machine. With delphi I can't make a webservice for linux... Did you know different product to make today web service in lazarus? Cher. I am afraid there is none. This Web Service Toolkit however might be easy to fix. I didn't look at it much so I am not sure, but it worked at some point. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JD · 2013-05-03 10:12 This interests me too. I've been frustrated since I discovered that Lazarus 2.6.2 cannot compile the Web Service Toolkit. I've been waiting on its author to fix it but he dosen't have the time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zzzato · 2013-05-03 10:25 > I am afraid there is none. What kind of problem there is? I am not going to look at it now, I have so many other things going on. Still, the problem can well be small and easy to fix. Someone else can fix it if the original author has no time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- inoussa · 2013-05-03 11:47 Hi I am the author of WST. I just wanted to note that : the 0.5 version is _outdated_, please don't use it; Use the svn version. This one is maintained, I am using it daily in my projects. The Lazarus IDE package is not required to use the  toolkit; I for instance do not make use of it. If you have a WSDL you can use the ws_helper program to parse it. If you are authoring a web service, you can use the typ_lib_edtr to define you service. When changing Lazarus version, sometime some errors appear, but that are some simple properties changed in the Lazarus version that should be rather simple to fix. I want to clearly state that WST is maintained . I will later on, as time permits, make a new release for easy download. Thanks you. Best regards. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zzzato · 2013-05-03 12:07 H, Inoussa. As first, I apologize..I did not want to disturb you... Tnanks for your answer. Is this the correct link to get svN version? https://lazarus-ccr.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/lazarus-ccr/wst/trunk Best. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zzzato · 2013-05-03 14:17 Quote What kind of problem there is? I don't want to argue. I understand when Inoussa says "I''ve not time"...because I have not time too: I'm working 7 day, 12 hours for day. But my question is "there are components for lazarus that really work?" 3 time I get some component and 3 time I've trouble. Some month ago, I took zeos. Many people say "good...powerful... beatiful...cool...." and so on. I tried to use zeos with oracle stored procedure.. oops...zeos object for stored procedure (tzproc?) doesn't work... Some week ago, I took Indy. Note that I'm using indy on delphi, so I've a good "know how" about this suite. I tried to install indy...and install fails: some error related to files path. Last week, I took WST. I tried to use it but lazarus can't compile WST. Note that THIS IS NOT A "J'ACCUSE" VS  Inoussa! I'm confused. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ChrisF · 2013-05-03 16:13 Quote from: zzzato on May 03, 2013, 04:17:59 pm... Some week ago, I took Indy. Hello, You should have make a post about this problem. I'm sure that someone here could have help you. I don't know if you've finally succeeded into installing Indy or not, neither if you still want to do it. There are a few issues concerning the Indy installation, indeed: hopefully they'd be soon solved. Just wanted to say that then, Indy is working great with FPC, at least for me (and I'm also using it both with Delphi and FPC). Just in case you still need it: - the method indicated in the wiki is properly working: http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Indy_with_Lazarus . See "How to install [3] Windows, Indy 10.5.8.0", by copying all the needed files into one directory before doing the installation. -if you dislike this solution, making some minor changes to the package file "indylaz.lpk" can make the trick. I can provide them if you wish. There is still a minor issue concerning the compilation in this case, but a simple workaround is also available. I understand it might sound a bit confusing when you encounter such a kind of troubles, especially the first time. But there is a good chance that someone else has a solution, or at least another proposal. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JD · 2013-05-03 18:38 Quote from: ChrisF on May 03, 2013, 06:13:29 pmmaking some minor changes to the package file "indylaz.lpk" can make the trick. Can you share these workarounds? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ChrisF · 2013-05-03 19:58 Of course, I can. But in order to not "pollute" this topic (as it's not really about Indy), I proposed to you to continue this conversation into your own topic, which is more relative to the indy installation itself : http:/ /www.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,20782.msg120890/topicseen. html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JD · 2013-05-03 20:10 Quote from: ChrisF on May 03, 2013, 09:58:35 pm Of course, I can. JD ---------------------------------------------------------------------- binfch · 2013-05-04 17:42 @zzzato I am using the RemObjects SDK (http://www.remobjects.com) to develop SOAP webservices on Linux -> It costs a few $, but is working OK. For REST there is also http://www.habarisoft.com/habari_webcomponents.html but I never used it. Apparently there are some issues on Linux. Thanks for your anwer. zzzato, maybe you should read between the lines. This message says that WST does not work with fpc 2.6.2, but that doesn't stop you to try it with 2.6.0. If I remember well, it was last used with Lazarus 1.0.6. So, if you do not really have a need for latest and greatest Lazarus, that problem could be easily solved. If you want to have many Lazarus versions side by side on the same pc, then a fpcup tool could help you with this task. It can be found here: https://bitbucket.org/reiniero/fpcup. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LuizAmérico · 2013-05-06 00:55 Follows a patch to fix wst in fpc 2.6.2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zzzato · 2013-05-07 12:22 Hi. As first, thanks for you answer. Maybe is a good solution, but I don't need only wst. My web service needs to do other operation. I want to avoid situations like "I need a lazarus version for wst..and a different version to other...". Cher.
