FPC equivalent of Datasnap REST component? lazarus / 38-Networking and Web Programming ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mylesw · 2012-03-20 19:44 Not sure if I am asking this correctly, but I'll give it a try.  We are a PHP development shop that did a bit of Delphi development about 6 yrs ago.  We manage about 1,500 Linux servers and this is growing at about 5% per quarter at the moment. We need to develop some fast middle tier technology that can interact with a variety of client devices (ie. web applications, tablets, phones, etc.) and we've standardized everything around REST protocol.  I haven't tried it yet, but I see that Embarcadero are pushing DataSnap for REST communications, and yet they have no Linux solution for this. We've used FPC to build some very fast, data processing services on Linux and have been overwhelmed by the performance.  This would be an ideal way for us to build our middle tier technology requirements. In the absence of anything from Embarcadero, what is the most common way that Lazarus/FPC developers build REST servers for Linux?   Is there anything similar to Datasnap that I should be looking at here? Thanks in advance for any assistance. Lazarus has the Indy support available as a (massive) component library. So this would be a good start for you but you will probably need to roll-your-own. Don't know of the legal issues involved with that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2012-03-20 23:23 HTTP application library (fpHTTP): Check JSON parser (fpJSON): Check I think you only need those two to create a RESTful server... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2012-03-21 11:04 Quote from: Leledumbo on March 21, 2012, 12:23:27 amHTTP application library (fpHTTP): Check JSON parser (fpJSON): Check I think you only need those two to create a RESTful server...
