[SOLVED] lNet SendMessage not functioning on Linux lazarus / 38-Networking and Web Programming ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jishaxe · 2012-02-29 08:11 Hi, I'm using the LNet networking library on Linux Mint 12 and despite giving me a correct return of however long the msg is, aSocket.SendMessage never actually seems to send the message after connecting to the host. I've tried with several different hosts with different ports and I've used my own code AND the TCPUDP example for lNet. I'm using Lazarus from apt and the latest lNet. I don't have a firewall up, I haven't managed to try it on Windows but even if it works there I still want to develop for Linux. Could it be my OS? Or the copy of Lazarus I have, would it be better to download it straight from the website instead of from apt? Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Shebuka · 2012-02-29 09:01 Do you using Visual or Basic version? If it's Visual, maybe on Mint the eventizer not working well. If it's Basic, do you allways eventize lNet with CallAction? Can you share you source here? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jishaxe · 2012-02-29 14:12 Quote from: Shebuka on February 29, 2012, 10:01:13 amDo you using Visual or Basic version? Sorry, I forgot to mention, I'm using the visual components and event driving them. When I get home I might be able to share the source but please remember that I have also tried using the example TCPUDP source that ships with lNet and that yield the same results. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael Collier · 2012-03-01 16:43 Jishaxe, I'd like to take a closer look at what you are doing, can you message me? I've been examining indy10 components and wasted enough time with it, I can start looking at LNet next. Here is a link to 1 of my websites that is running at the moment http://www.lazdev.net23.net You will see an internet demos button on the main menu. If you click on it it, you will see a few internet demos that you can try out, I was planning on putting Indy and Synapse on there but will look at LNet instead. The machine is currently Linux (ubuntu) but can be switched to Windows. I can host an LNet based server application on it and we can try it out from windows/linux/mac clients. I also have Delphi so I can build working servers to run on windows just to make any client code easier to get running. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael Collier · 2012-03-02 02:58 Jishaxe, LNet works ok for me on Linux and windows (will check Mac later). I'm running an LNet server on my machine at the moment and have added a new interactive demo at the URL I gave previously. Search "LNet" for the article. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jishaxe · 2012-03-03 20:49 UPDATE: Hm, it was just me. Thanks for your comments, topic closed
