Ubuntu 20.04 Lazarus 2.1.0 r 63871 FPC 3.3.1 x86_64-linux-gtk2 lazarus / 32-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- glensbo · 2020-09-07 08:35 I have a problem with Lazarus not displaying table headers in Options for project correct. Later when running a project as Linux I have a lot of problems with the graphics display. I have installed Lazarus and FPC via FPCupdeluxe following these two tutorials: https://github.com/LongDirtyAnimAlf/fpcupdeluxe/blob/master/README.md and  https://www.sigmdel.ca/michel/program/fpl/install_fpl_2_en.html. I am probably missing some FPC modules or packages. Any ideas? The project folder is here (not mine but at project I use a lot and have running on a mac) https://sourceforge.net/projects/simthyr/files/ Hope somebody can point me in the right direction. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- el3ctrolyte · 2020-09-07 10:20 I have had alot of bad experiences installing lazarus in ubuntu through the package manager. I just come to the website and download the deb packages and install them. Here is the 64 bit linux deb's: https://sourceforge.net/projects/lazarus/files/Lazarus%20Linux%20amd64 %20DEB/Lazarus%202.0.10/ Install them in this order: fpc-laz fpc-src lazarus-project To install them run this command for each package: sudo apt-get install ./ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- af0815 · 2020-09-07 10:54 Installing with fpcupdeluxe gives a good working soloution of fpc/lazarus. The next step is to install OPM inside of lazarus, because with OPM you can normaly look for the missing depencies. This is not a Lazarus fault, you have to install the missing package by yourself. If you open the proect and the projectexplorer, you see the missing lazarus packages. Step 1 is to install fpc/lazarus with fpcupdelux. Did this work ? Step 2 is install the OnlinePackagemanager (OPM). Is this done ? Step 3 is , what depencies are missing ? Step 4 is to install the missing depencies with OPM And on the picture you use the wrong buildmode. It is cocoa for mac, not ubuntu Version. You have to look for the correct buildmode for your system. Open the select list where cocoa stand in the upper part of the diaqloge, there must be more buildmodes for your ubuntu. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- glensbo · 2020-09-07 14:59 Thanks both - @el3ctrolyte this method forces me to make a second installation? So it will take some time for me to test that solution - I will revert as soon as possible. @af0815 this seems to be an interesting addition to FPCupdeluxe - I have used synaptic - I will test OnlinePackageManager  soon. The picture was only an example of how lazarus interprets the table - with squeezed columns. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- af0815 · 2020-09-07 16:22 fpcupdeluxe makes a isolated installation (second, third, fourth,...) I have more 2 installation on my system. Side by side. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- glensbo · 2020-09-08 09:00 When I choose dependencies in Online Package Manager nothing happens and when I click refresh it returns to packages. Does it mean there are no packages needed for that project? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- glensbo · 2020-09-08 12:18 Could it be a Ubuntu error?  Look at the image of FPCUPdeluxe something is wrong and it is not possible to adjust the "columns" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DonAlfredo · 2020-09-08 13:02 This definitely does not look good ! Are you using GTK3 ? (I saw that you did choose GTK3 as the widgetset in your first post) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- af0815 · 2020-09-08 13:13 Then he must have used gtk3 for the Lazarus build. Becaus i see in the first post, he is using a strange version of Lazarus to compile SymTyr. Maybe he have compiled Lazarus for gtk3 by accident. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- glensbo · 2020-09-08 19:19 @DonAlfredo and @af0815. Sorry for not replying sooner. I tried to get rid of any GTK3 installment - and that caused a black screen. Now I start over and uses GTK2 if possible - thanks for your help I will revert ---------------------------------------------------------------------- af0815 · 2020-09-08 19:37 The widgetset of lazarus hve nothing to do with the widgetset of your compiled programm. So you can compile a qt application with a gtk2 Lazarus. Eg. i compile on a windows widgetset a programm for arm-gtk2 without any problem. The only goal is to have the correct libraries on the compiling system (and in the targetsystem too) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- glensbo · 2020-09-12 14:27 @af0815 Thanks for your information I tried it my self and there isn't any difference using GTK2 or GTK3 Quote from: af0815 on September 08, 2020, 09:37:52 pmThe widgetset of lazarus hve nothing to do with the widgetset of your compiled program. I have tried to change settings both with Tweak and dconfEditor, but it doesn't help. I think I will report it on the Ubuntu site. I'm lost with respect to other packages that I may install to help Ubuntu perform better. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- glensbo · 2020-09-14 09:53 @af0815 Which libraries are in your opinion needed for running fpcupdeluxe and lazarus?
