.XCompose gets ignored?

Hi,

I have some shortcut definitions in .XCompose. Could it be that this
file gets ignored within Lazarus and by applications built with
Lazarus?

The shortcuts defined in /usr/share/X11/locale/en_US.UTF-8/Compose
work.
