FPC cannot find ppcx64 lazarus / 32-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tk · 2014-07-03 11:46 Hi, again I messed up my FPC installation under 64-bit Linux, although reinstall is easy I would like to know from where the FPC executable takes the information which compiler will be called(currently I have both ppc386 and ppcx64 in my usr/lib/fpc). Now fpc writes: Code: [Select]Error: ppc386 can't be executed, error message: Failed to execute "ppc386", error code: 127 Code: [Select]root@tk-HP-ProBook-450-G0:/usr/share/fpcsrc/2.6.4# which fpc /usr/bin/fpc root@tk-HP-ProBook-450-G0:/usr/share/fpcsrc/2.6.4# which ppc386 /usr/bin/ppc386 root@tk-HP-ProBook-450-G0:/usr/share/fpcsrc/2.6.4# which ppcx64 /usr/bin/ppcx64 root@tk-HP-ProBook-450-G0:/usr/share/fpcsrc/2.6.4# make Makefile:197: *** The Makefile doesn't support target can't-executed,, please run fpcmake first.  Stop. tried: Code: [Select]root@tk-HP-ProBook-450-G0:/usr/share/fpcsrc/2.6.4# fpcmake -Tx86_64-linux -r -wthis generated makefiles but after Code: [Select]root@tk-HP-ProBook-450-G0:/usr/share/fpcsrc/2.6.4# make clean all CPU_TARGET=x86_64 OS_TARGET=linux i get Code: [Select]make[2]: Entering directory `/usr/share/fpcsrc/2.6.4/compiler' make OS_TARGET=be CPU_TARGET=ppc386 CROSSBINDIR= BINUTILSPREFIX= CROSSCYCLEBOOTSTRAP=1 rtlclean rtl make[3]: -iVSPTPSOTO: Command not found make[3]: Entering directory `/usr/share/fpcsrc/2.6.4/compiler' Makefile:197: *** The Makefile doesn't support target ppc386-be, please run fpcmake first.  Stop. make[3]: Leaving directory `/usr/share/fpcsrc/2.6.4/compiler' make[2]: *** [cycle] Error 2 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/share/fpcsrc/2.6.4/compiler' make[1]: *** [compiler_cycle] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/share/fpcsrc/2.6.4' make: *** [build-stamp.x86_64-linux] Error 2 Thanks a lot for help ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Blaazen · 2014-07-03 12:05 Hi, QuoteI would like to know from where the FPC executable takes the information which compiler will be called(currently I have both ppc386 and ppcx64 in my usr/lib/fpc). I'm not sure. Maybe from /etc/fpc.cfg Those files ppcx64 and ppc386 in /usr/local/bin are just symlinks to compilers which is (usually) in /usr/local/lib/fpc/X.Y.Z/ppcx64 or ppc386. It's how you can switch between compilers (useful, because you need 2.6.4 to build 2.7.1). You can also run directly $ ppcx64 somefile.pas or $ ppc386 somefile.pas instead of $ fpc somefile.pas At first check the symlinks and look if the path where it points is valid. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tk · 2014-07-03 12:31 Quote from: Blaazen on July 03, 2014, 02:05:33 pmI'm not sure. Maybe from /etc/fpc.cfg I think not because in this file there are already paths dependent to target, like this one: -Fu/usr/lib/fpc/$fpcversion/units/$fpctarget Now I already corrected my FPC setup but this would be good to know.
