Handle in no visual component in Linux lazarus / 32-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- proxy3d · 2013-05-13 06:59 Good day, Lazarus for Linux supports the Handle in no visual component? I can do a visual component (example TComponent1 = class (TComponent)), but with Handle. I need to send messages to PostMessage no visual component How to do it in Lazarus under Linux? What are the functions for creating Handle with Lazarus in Linux? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2013-05-13 07:18 Generalized handles and message passing is a windows concept, it is not portable to other operating systems. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JuhaManninen · 2013-05-13 08:08 Quote from: proxy3d on May 13, 2013, 08:59:58 amI need to send messages to PostMessage no visual component Use events and event handlers instead. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taazz · 2013-05-13 08:22 Quote from: marcov on May 13, 2013, 09:18:23 amGeneralized handles and message passing is a windows concept, it is not portable to other operating systems. Isn't DBus used for the same purpose on linux? and I think there is a second library too? Having 0 linux experience I thought that those 2 mechanisms are supposed to be able to mimic the windows message queues and they do not have a handle requirement so they can be used from visual and non visual components. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- proxy3d · 2013-05-13 20:36 In Delphi 7 has support for Kylix Handle with non-visual components. There is a class THandieComponent  in the module QControls for Windows and Linux. Class THandleComponent - is the basis for non-visual components that have a handle to the window. What you need to write to Lazarus in Linux? If Lazarus does not support Handle with non-visual components under Linux, how to emulate the handle to Lazarus in Linux? I need to send messages (similar to PostMessage) non visual components. In Delphi XE support for iOS, MacOS, Windows, and there are no problems with Handle with non-visual components. Without it hard to write the normal components in Lazarus I had to write the code for WinInet.pas Lazarus for Linux. Write emulation PostMessage in Lazarus is not seriously. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JuhaManninen · 2013-05-13 20:46 Quote from: proxy3d on May 13, 2013, 10:36:51 pmI need to send messages (similar to PostMessage) non visual components. What is the benefit of PostMessage over the events and event handlers that I suggested? Do you need to pass messages across different threads? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- proxy3d · 2013-05-13 21:19 If it was a SendMessage, then I would call a method or event component. But I need PostMessage. I have a set of multimedia components (client and server) to transfer video, audio, commands, and other data. When a client receives a command from the server, the client has to process it. The client has 5 threads for receiving data: video, audio, command, files, custom data. For example command: the authorization request video. The thread of the client for command read from the socket this command. Thread sends PostMessage in which a pointer on "description of this command" and continues to work . Component when it is available, receives the command and processes it. PS: Spread 1 to send a message to stream 2. When the stream 2 will be free, they will receive and process it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zeljko · 2013-05-14 08:02 Quote from: proxy3d on May 13, 2013, 10:36:51 pmIn Delphi 7 has support for Kylix Handle with non-visual components. Create your THandleComponent = class(TWinControl) and you'll have handle. Make handle invisible and that's it.
