Compile Error Ubuntu 12.04 lazarus / 32-Linux ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JimKueneman · 2012-12-18 04:46 I have and app that I develop in OSX and Win mostly.  It has worked fine in Linux until the last few days of changes.  I tried to compile tonight and got this error Quote/usr/bin/ld: warning: /home/jimkueneman/Desktop/Parallels Shared Folders/Home/Documents/OpenLCB/trunk/scratchpads/jkueneman/OlcbCommand er/Compiled_Binaries/i386-linux/link.res contains output sections; did you forget -T? I tried deleting the old executable and res file but it still gives this error.  What does this mean? Jim You can just ignore this warning - see: http://www.freepascal.org/faq.var#unix-ld219 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JimKueneman · 2012-12-18 15:03 Ok but it does make it not possible to run the app from within the debugger.  Also it says this bug is fixed in GNU LD.  If I update to 2.23 from here will that fix it? http://www.gnu.org/software/binutils/ If so I am not a UNIX expert so what do I do with this package now that I have it. Thanks, Jim ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zoran · 2012-12-18 16:23 Quote from: JimKueneman on December 18, 2012, 04:03:48 pmOk but it does make it not possible to run the app from within the debugger. I don't think that it has anything to do with this warning, you probably have some other problem. I always get this warning in Linux, but have no problem with debugger. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JimKueneman · 2012-12-18 17:34 QuoteI don't think that it has anything to do with this warning, you probably have some other problem. You are right I thought the following info was related to this error but it is not.  NONE of my projects will compile in Linux anymore, even ones I have not changed..... Mmm.... Somehow "Use external gdb debug symbols file (-Xg)" got checked in a global way and it won't compile with this option set. Jim
