Disable "not responding" _NET_WM_PING during development

What strategies do developers use to manage "not responding"
notifications (e.g. _NET_WM_PING) when pausing execution/using
breakpoints?

It's a distraction, albeit minor. I'm working in x.org/xfce.

I think a script with xprop can do this, but I figure there is more
than one technique.
