How to get PasLibVlc to work on Linux? lazarus / 21-General ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BosseB ยท 2023-11-21 10:41 I have been struggling with porting a Windows application based on PasLibVLC to Linux on RaspberryPi. Even though the application builds in Lazarus it won't show any video at all... So now I backed down to creating the very basic simple demo project as described here: http://lazplanet.blogspot.com/2018/01/how-to-make-simple-video-player- in.html I have tried it on several Raspberry Pi4B running various versions of PiOS (32 and 64 bit) but they all do the same thing: I start up the application and the main form is shown but without the black player background. Then I select an mp4 video and it does not change anything on the screen. When I hit Play nothing happens. There are no errors or anything like that shown, it just does not work. On Windows it works just fine... Note: On all of these RPi units VLC is installed as part of the operating system and I can start VLC and select the same video as above and it plays just fine. So since VLC is installed and working I had hoped that my application using the VLC library would work too... My last Linux test was on RPi4B with PiOS 32 bit where VLC is version 3.0.18 It looks like something important is amiss here on Linux, but what is it? I have moved the sources to Windows using the attached tgz archive and built it there on Lazarus 2.2.6 And here the executable runs like it is supposed to, starts up with a black player panel and when I load a file it appears and can be played as expected. What can I do to fix this on Linux?????
