Pushing/Sending MySQL / MariaDB event to clients lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- pcurtis · 2021-03-15 11:49 Hi All, What I am trying to do is when the MySQL / MariaDB database has changed, get the server to send a notification to all the clients currently connected. I uses zeos. Thanks in advance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MarkMLl · 2021-03-15 12:31 Does the backend support notifications, in the way that PostgreSQL and Firebird do? I've been using this sort of thing since before Lazarus supported it, i.e. using the backend-specific libraries. If the backend supports it, then I'd suggest that adding it to the FCL and providing a component for Lazarus would be well-regarded. If the backend doesn't support it, then about the best you can do is create a table to use as a semaphore (e.g. containing a single row with a last-updated timestamp)... or use a more capable backend. Excessively polling a backend server in lieu of a proper notification mechanism has long been considered very poor practice.
