I'm looking for an efficient database search engine component to include into my lazarus applicaiton. I would like a compoentn with some french expressions dictionnary, in order to be efficient (not only completion is useful but also to look words of the same family, etc.) Is you application working with the same database using mysql or sqlite (user can select the DBMS), or are you using two different database each one for a different use case? A tipp: It could be extremely helpful to do the most operations especially selecting the wanted data directly in the database. This could save so much time and could be really easy to administrate - so efficient and not just effective The problem is that a DBMS like mysql would have to transfer all the data to your application and then your application just takes a look at something like 5% of it. MySQL, Firebird, Oracle ... are so much faster in selecting the correct result. These dbms are using algorithms to execute a high optimized query and they don't have to transfer all the data over the network (LAN, WAN or just LTE, 3G...). Moreover it's easy to administrate the search. You can simply learn while people are searching, add new word families.. You do not need to recompile the application, distribute an update or even restart it. For instance it could be possible to just add synonyms into a specific table  Greetings Miguel ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gelinp · 2016-10-08 08:48 In fact I use mysql to development because I can use mysql workbench which is suitable to modify database schema. But, at rum time I would like to use Sqlite 3 with no install executable. I forget to say my need is also to search in file text like .PDF, OOo (or MS Office but this last is an option). Thank you for your help. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Devstructor · 2016-10-08 12:42 QuoteI forget to say my need is also to search in file text like .PDF, OOo (or MS Office but this last is an option). Are these documents stored in your database? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gelinp · 2016-10-09 05:46 No, documents are on file system, not in the database... It's reason I'm looking for tool to look both database and flat texts files... May be I could create databas eindex from texts files, and then work only with database ?
