Lararus 1.6 MySql 5.6 - 5.7 lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marsheng · 2016-07-18 11:44 Mysql in Lararus only has a 5.6 Connection. The MySQL files I downloaded are 5.7 so it crashes. So I either need a 5.6 version of MySql or a 5.7 connection option in Lazarus. I've searched for 5.6 package (something like MySQLXXXX.18) but only version 20 is available and it is 5.7. Thanks Wallace. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rvk · 2016-07-18 11:57 What happens if you change the mysql56conn in the uses of the unit to mysql57conn and the MySQL56Connection1: TMySQL56Connection; to MySQL56Connection1: TMySQL57Connection; ?? Does this compile correctly ? You could add a request in the bugtracker to have TMySQL57Connection included in the component pallet. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marsheng · 2016-07-19 02:09 It crashes when I try and connect to the database. I would like to find MYSql 5.6 as I then don't have to update my windows version. I can't seem to find how to do it. There are many web hits but all seem beyond my skills. Synaptic file manager does not find 5.6 only 5.7 . Any way in making Synaptic find older versions? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rvk · 2016-07-19 07:54 I'm not sure about Synaptic... but you can find steps to install MySQL 5.6 for Ubuntu here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/762384/install-mysql-5-6-on- ubuntu-16-04 What linux version are you on? Here I have mariadb-server-10.0 in Synaptic... isn't that the "same" forked version as MySQL 5.6? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MariaDB ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marsheng · 2016-07-20 04:23 I have been playing off and on with Linux for several years and never really adopted it. However with Windows 10, it is time to change over. I have to take the leap and learn the bits.. One of the things that originally put me off with Linux is that all the replies in forums to error/installs just didn't ever seem to go plan. Current issue is an example, each thing I seem to try does not respond to what is suggested by others. So let me start and get a few basics down. (Please be patient, I will get there). I guess the foundation of all variants is Linux. So will a solution, for eg installing Mysql 5.6 be the same set of instructions for Peppermint, Ubuntu, Linux LUbuntu or not ? I'm currently running LUbuntu. If not, which version should I install to get the most workable solutions. Once I have got this established, I get onto the problems I had with the suggestions offered.
