Paradox lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hansvb · 2016-01-07 14:17 Is it possible to open a paradox tabel with Lazarus? there is no specific connector. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Thaddy · 2016-01-07 14:36 Well if you mean by using the integrated object oriented modeled data controls and drivers? NO, basically, or odbc. If you mean to read it? Yes, there is some old code available for the dinosaur Paradox, but I don't know if it would still work. The Paradox format is actually pretty simple to write a reader for, but nobody uses it (well, obviously, you, that is). If you can find an odbc driver for paradox that would probably be the best solution and probably Windows Only. But I think MS dropped that driver a long time ago. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Mike.Cornflake · 2016-01-07 14:50 The follow implies it is doable, though I haven't tried it myself http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Thaddy · 2016-01-07 14:53 That's http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/TParadoxDataSet more or less what I ment, but unmaintained afaik and read-only as I explained. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hansvb · 2016-01-07 14:57 a client has some paradox tables and wants to convert it to a newer database format. So i just need to reed it en kopie it to something else ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hansvb · 2016-01-07 15:18 With this i can download a pckage which seems to reed te table. Code: Pascal  [Select][+][-]window.onload = function(){var x1 = document.getElementById("main_content_section"); if (x1) { var x = document.getElementsByClassName("geshi");for (var i = 0; i svn checkout https://lazarus-ccr.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/lazarus- ccr/components/tparadoxdataset I see some strange text but most of it is readable. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jurassic Pork · 2016-01-07 16:58 hello, you can use the component tparadox with a datasource component , you need pxlib library ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hansvb · 2016-01-07 19:01 I found the pdx component, but i can't find a datasource which can connect with it. Where can i find the datasource component? Sorry, was i bit to quick. I found it. i saved all the paradox files as csv files. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- teos · 2016-01-10 12:41 Can TDBF not open/read paradox as well? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hansvb · 2016-01-16 19:01 TDBF does open paradox but you can not see the data in the datasource. I tried it today. (ZEOS does not open it either). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hansvb · 2016-01-16 19:18 Does anyone know how the filter option works? It does nothing when i try to make a filter like i do with tdbf: Code: Pascal  [Select][+][-]window.onload = function(){var x1 = document.getElementById("main_content_section"); if (x1) { var x = document.getElementsByClassName("geshi");for (var i = 0; i PDX1.Filter := 'ID<>1';PDX1.Filtered := true; ---------------------------------------------------------------------- teos · 2016-01-16 21:06 Hans, I have no problem with connecting a dbgrid to a tdatasource which is connected to tdbf component. Fields and data show up just fine.. I can send you my sources if that helps.. TDBF filters its data in the OnFilterRecord event where you have to have to work out the filter yourself. (accept = ID > 0;) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hansvb · 2016-01-16 21:16 I said tbf as an example. With tdbf i can use a filter. That works nice. I want todo the same with a paradox table with the pdx component. It has a filter property but i cant get it to work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jurassic Pork · 2016-01-16 23:43 hello, with my paradox Biolife database this works : Code: Pascal  [Select][+][-]window.onload = function(){var x1 = document.getElementById("main_content_section"); if (x1) { var x = document.getElementsByClassName("geshi");for (var i = 0; i begin  PDX.Close;  PDX.FileName:=FEPX.FileName;  PDX.Filter :=  'Length_In>20';  PDX.Filtered := True;  PDX.Open;end;Length_In is a float Lazarus 1.6RC1 , TParadox and TDatasource components, pxlib (1/10/2007) In my database , i have some fields with spaces example : Species No can't find the syntax to work with filter : this doesn't work : Code: Pascal  [Select][+][-]window.onload = function(){var x1 = document.getElementById("main_content_section"); if (x1) { var x = document.getElementsByClassName("geshi");for (var i = 0; i PDX.Filter :=  'Species No >90400'; QuoteException class "EDatabaseError" at $005B91AD with message "Index based on unknown field "Species"." nor this : Code: Pascal  [Select][+][-]window.onload = function(){var x1 = document.getElementById("main_content_section"); if (x1) { var x = document.getElementsByClassName("geshi");for (var i = 0; i  PDX.Filter :=  '"Species No">90400'; QuoteException class "EDatabaseError" at $005B91AD with message "Index based on unknown field ">"." I got the pdx component form: Quotehttp://sourceforge.net/projects/tpdx/ You use the standard lazarus component i think. How did you get the standard component working? I downloaded PXLIB 0.6.5 to get the pxlib.dll which it needs. But it has to be compiled first and i do not know how to do that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jurassic Pork · 2016-01-17 10:20 hello, pxlib binary for win32  is here pxlib.dll needs iconv.dll to work : Try to find the file iconv.dll (32 bits) in your system and put this dll in the same directory that your pxlib.dll If you can't find the iconv.dll in your system , you can find it in this zip file : ftp://ftp.gnupg.org/gcrypt/binary/libiconv-1.9.1.dll.zip ---------------------------------------------------------------------- teos · 2016-01-17 13:08 Hans, A datasource is never going to give you records. A dbgrid connected to a datasource DOES. I see your turn for tparadox, which for what I read of it requires 2 DLL's and which is giving you trouble even before you installed it, apart from the issues with 32 and 64 bits Windows. I just cannot imagine that TDBF opens your tables but does not show data. Just my 5 cents. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jurassic Pork · 2016-01-17 16:42 hello, i have found a solution for my problem : QuoteIn my database , i have some fields with spaces example : Species No can't find the syntax to work with filter using onFilterRecord event instead of Filter property     : Code: Pascal  [Select][+][-]window.onload = function(){var x1 = document.getElementById("main_content_section"); if (x1) { var x = document.getElementsByClassName("geshi");for (var i = 0; i procedure TMainForm.PDXFilterRecord(DataSet: TDataSet; var Accept: Boolean);begin   Accept := False;   IF Dataset.FieldByName('Species No').AsInteger > 90200 then Accept := true;end; ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bourbon · 2026-08-22 08:46 With the boolean field "FieldBool" Code: Pascal  [Select][+][-]window.onload = function(){var x1 = document.getElementById("main_content_section"); if (x1) { var x = document.getElementsByClassName("geshi");for (var i = 0; i Table1.Filter :='FieldBool';// orTable1.Filter := 'not FieldBool' ---------------------------------------------------------------------- egsuh · 2026-08-22 09:46 https://www.systoolsgroup.com/paradox/viewer/?srsltid=AfmBOopKZgeoV10s NFeG3YNsOUxc1tQSDn_mOG3P_-Y4f5eGatGDzfW7 Not sure whether this will work.
