Unable to connect to postgres via Lazarus IDE lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- timcs · 2015-12-29 10:57 Hi all   I have already written a program using the postgres database connections and to make this work I have copied the required dlls etc into the folder that the program runs from and this works fine. Just as a side note I run lazarus from a Pen drive instead of it installed on the PC at work , I cannot simply install or copy dlls into parts of the Windows system . I developed the working program without a problem in this way but , now, I am trying to write a new program with postgres and when I try and connect to the database via the lazarus IDE I get two messages : Title: TCalendar(Calendar): Lazarus.exe - Ordinal Not Found The ordinal 2630 could not be located in the dynamic link library LIBEAY32.dll Title: Error Can not load PostgreSQL client library "libpq.dll". Check your installation. However this with the other required DLLS are sitting within the folder the program runs from. The components on this project are: TSQLQuery TSQLTransaction TPQConnection TDatasource TDBgrid Any Ideas ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2015-12-29 12:08 It sounds like there are multiple versions of the SSL dlls in the path. The postgres dll requires that dll. The easiest solution is to put the DLLs that come with postgres in the application's directory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- timcs · 2015-12-29 12:44 Quote from: marcov on December 29, 2015, 01:08:21 pmIt sounds like there are multiple versions of the SSL dlls in the path. Hi Marcov , did this first but it made no difference, in the end I really cheated to get around it by copying the Dlls into the root of the folder where Lazarus runs from and this worked. You could be right about the multiple paths being the issue as not only is my program installed with these DLLs but so it PGadmin ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2015-12-29 13:17 True. It depends what you are looking at. The place you put them is for the IDE (that can connect to postgres to get names of fields from tables for in dropdown lists). The place I mentioned is for the final .EXE.
