Why I can't see these components? lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gosh · 2015-04-16 09:18 Hi guys. I'm a newbie in Lazarus DB world and trying to understand how it works on this platform. Bad thing is that I couldn't find a good tutorial about databases. The only serious thing is tutorial from wiki pages. I'd like to ask, why I can't see components shown on this image: In general, I want to work with Firebird db. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Cyrax · 2015-04-16 11:09 You need to install correct database package (It is sqldblaz, based from attached picture in your post. Go to Package->Install/Uninstall packages menu, find package sqldblaz from rightmost list and doubleclick on it. Then click on Save and rebuild IDE button) in to Lazarus so you can use its database components. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gosh · 2015-04-16 12:55 hmmm.. SQLDBLaz 1.0.1 is in the left panel. but... after I rebuilded IDE, everything become visible Thank you. BTW, can someone help with a good tutorial? As I told previously, I prefer Firebird DB. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any good tutorial except that from wiki. Is there a source code with examples? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- talorigomat · 2015-04-16 13:27 As regards a tutorial you could try: http://delphi.about.com/od/database/a/databasecourse_2.htm It uses delphi however you can following along in Lazarus. You might also try http://www.pp4s.co.uk/main/tu-db-plan.html which isn't as detailed but should get you familiar quickly. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gosh · 2015-04-16 13:37 Thank you for this suggestion. I already seen these two sites but I didn't read them more carefully. Bad thing is that there's no projects with source code attached. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mangakissa · 2015-04-20 08:24 Embedded database create with these settings: QuoteCREATE TABLE MEMBERS (   ID                       BIGINT         NOT NULL,   NICKNAME                VARCHAR(    20) NOT NULL COLLATE NONE,   MEMBERDATE                 DATE,   FINDINGS                   BLOB SUB_TYPE 1 SEGMENT SIZE 80,  CONSTRAINT PK_MEMBERS PRIMARY KEY (ID) ); CREATE ASC INDEX I_MEMBERS_NAME ON MEMBERS (NICKNAME); SET TERM ^^ ; CREATE TRIGGER TMEMBERS_ID FOR MEMBERS ACTIVE BEFORE INSERT POSITION 0 AS /*   You can change this template in the template editor:   File | Preferences | Object Templates   Trigger:   Author   : ,   Date     : 20-4-2015 09:21:10   Purpose  : */ begin if (NEW.ID is NULL) then NEW.ID = GEN_ID(member_id, 1); end ^^ SET TERM ; ^^ Small example attached.
