Reading Paradox table into Firebird [Solved] lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MoellerCLaus · 2014-12-31 09:26 I am converting a lot of tables from Paradox codepage NorDan40. I am using TParadox (PXlib.dll) ZQuery is pointing to a Firebird table where Tekst is defined as VARCHAR(40). In Paradox the field Tekst is defined as A40. I have tried several attempts: Code: [Select]   ZQuery1.FieldbyName('Tekst').AsString := Paradox1.FieldByName('Tekst').AsString; Reads in fine but all records miss the Danish Characters Æ,Ø,Å Code: [Select]  ZQuery1.FieldbyName('Tekst').AsString := SysToUtf8(Paradox1.FieldByName('Tekst').AsString); Reads in many records with out problems including ÆØÅ. But after some 30 records it gives the attached message. Is there another way to convert the string from paradox-table? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MoellerCLaus · 2014-12-31 13:50 After hours of search and frustration I found a solution - avoiding to convert via CSV files. The excellent component TParadox has a less documented function parameter/function called TargitEncoding. Set this UTF-8. And everything runs well. Without converting using SysToUTF function. This can now be skipped. Strange is it though that SysToUTF converts 99% of the records. I tried to find a pattern in those not converted to UTF8 but can not. Just that to characters of ø,å,æ in a record often gives the problem but not always.
