Non-fcl-db style database library for Free Pascal?

Is there some database library for Free Pascal which is based on sql-
db or fcl-db? In fcl-db you have TConnection and its descendants like
TMySQLConneciton, then you have TQuery, TTransaction, TSQLQuery,
TSQLTransaction and so on. As I understand, fcl-db in turn was
designed to be compatible with Delphi-style DB library which has
similar structure.

So is there some DB library for FreePascal which is not based on this
structure and does not tries to be compatible with it, but something
fresh and new instead or maybe just different?

The other most used library, ZEOS also follows the VCL like designtime
pattern into connections.

Trouble is that your question is hard to answer since you only say
what you don't want, not what you want.

There are other alternatives, but those are usually not abstracted
across databases types.
