Can Lazarus on OS-X use 64-bit MySQL? lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AKCarlow · 2014-07-07 22:02 Using: OS-X 10.6.8 Lazarus 1.2.4, FPC 2.6.4 MySQL 5.6.19 (64-bit) I start a new project, drop an SQLDBLibraryLoader on the form, set the LibraryName property to /usr/local/mysql-5.6.19-osx10.6-x86_64/lib/libmysqlclient.dylib (in case Lazarus can't follow the symbolic link in the mysql) and try to change the loader's Enabled property to true. I get an error "Can't load MySQL library ...". I also get the error if I reference the libmysqlclient.18.dylib Am I doing something wrong, or is it because of the 64-bit MySQL? And if it is a Lazarus/FPC issue, is it something that might be fixed in a future release? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2014-07-07 23:41 64-bit application can only link to 64-bit libraries and vice versa. So check first whether your Lazarus is 64-bit. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2014-07-08 07:23 I'm no mysql expert, but I assume a 32-bit client DLL can use a 64-bit server? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Mike.Cornflake · 2014-07-08 07:48 QuoteI'm no mysql expert, but I assume a 32-bit client DLL can use a 64-bit server?Sure, that's my experience. But @Leledumbo is talking about client side.  Build a 64bit application with Lazarus, and you'll need the 64bit MySQL dll's/so's.  Build a 32bit app, you'll need the 32bit dll's/so's. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AKCarlow · 2014-07-08 10:40 Thanks for the replies. I installed 32-bit MySQL and Lazarus can load my database.
