TDBF - ODBC - Index file not found error lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JJR · 2014-05-19 06:05 Hi, I'm using TDBF to work with dBase files (legacy application) and I encounter an annoying problem. I can not access or link the tables via ODBC or MS Acesss. I get the following error message : 'Index file not found' I have really tried searching for a solution but to no avail. Trying different TDBF LanguageID, TableLevel, etc. The bug is showing up as soon as the table has an MDX attached with *more* than one index (TAG) defined within the MDX. If the MDX file is deleted I can link or access the table. DBF table created via MyDbfStudio (TDBF open source) also have the same issue. DBF created via other DBF tool are OK : the table with its MDX file is well linked and updated. So it looks like there is something with the MDX that MS ODBC driver don't like. Any clue ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- howardpc · 2014-05-19 07:43 My (rather limited) experience with TDbf is that .ndx files have been supported more reliably than .mdx files, especially if the multiple index expression contains several different field types. However, now that TDbf is being actively developed again (and since those who work on it contribute regularly to this forum) there is hope that remaining shortcomings in the index support can be fully eliminated. I suggest you provide the simplest example you can contrive that shows the problem and submit it to the bugtracker. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2014-05-19 07:52 Yup, so a simple table, the MDX generated by TDBF and one by another tool (that creates the ones that work) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mangakissa · 2014-05-19 17:57 QuoteI can not access or link the tables via ODBC or MS Acesss. Are you using these tables in another application than created application with Lazarus and TDBF? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JJR · 2014-05-20 03:00 @mangakissa Exactly, I wanted to use ODBC for SQL queries. @howardpc Ok, good. I'll do that but where exactly ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- howardpc · 2014-05-20 08:22 Somewhere here: http://bugs.freepascal.org/view_all_bug_page.php You'll need to establish a login if you aren't already registered as a user. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LacaK · 2014-05-20 09:07 May be, that DBF ODBC driver simply does not support compud MDX index file with multiple indexes ? Then it is problem of ODBC driver not TODBCConnection ... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JJR · 2014-05-22 04:14 This is the MS ODBC driver and it works well with MDX created not by TDBF. Could someone try to reproduce the issue ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2014-05-31 09:38 There's still open questions on the bug [1] you raised, JJR... Hope you can answer those so we can look into it. [1] http://bugs.freepascal.org/view.php?id=26212
