Getting list of DataBase Name in firebird lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BlueIcaro · 2014-05-05 20:07 Hi, can I get the list of databases in a firebird server? Thanks /BlueIcaro ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taazz · 2014-05-05 20:10 No it is not supported by firebird. you can build your own infrastructure on top of firebird if needed be but I'm not aware of any ready made solutions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cdbc · 2014-05-06 07:05 Hi Firebird has to keep track of what's going on internally, so one might query the system db for a list of databases... Me thinks  http://www.firebirdsql.org/en/documentation/ Maybe some useful info there  Regards Benny ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taazz · 2014-05-06 07:28 http://forums.devshed.com/firebird-sql-development-61/list-databases- stored-server-248061.html http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6566597/list-of-all-databases-on- firebird That was a time waster just to make a point. In short Firebird does not keep any database related information internally. All information are kept inside the database you open and every database has its own environment that can't be shared with other databases. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Groffy · 2014-05-07 10:54 From FB2.5 on you can enable server or database related trace messages. If you enable logging for all databases and set (fbtrace.conf) . .    log_connections true . . You can trace the logfile for all databases which connected to the Firebird server. Best regards ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Graeme · 2014-05-11 13:09 There is no such functionality built into Firebird. You can easily build your own solution though. Years back there was a small Java service application that you could log into, register new database (name and location), and get your applications to query that service. I can't remember the Java application's name, but something like that could be very quickly implemented in FPC too. What we do is simply maintain a INI file. Our applications that support connecting to multiple DB's read the Database section in the INI, and populate a Database ComboBox in our application's login screen. Simply to implement and maintain.
