relocating the database lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- johnsolomon · 2014-01-03 17:52 Hello all,    This may sound dumb, but I did it anyway. I have created my first project in lazarus using a firebird db. I connect to the db using the zeoslib components. Everything seemed to be going fine untill I tried to create the installer using Inno. The installer works. It up everthing in the correct install location. but when I tried to run it I get an sql error looking for the db in the original location. I reset the zeos Zconnection settings to reflect the locations that I really want and the setting seem to take, except it is still looking for the db in the original location at run time. I have looked in all of the places I can think of, but I can not figure why it is holding onto the old location. any help would be greatly appreciated. Error: SQL Error: I/O error for file "C:\users\john... .fdb" The system cannot find the file specified. Thanks, John Even though it is my first application, I know there are better ways of handling database connections that can be dynamic. I was thinking a txt file with the connection location?. Any guildance would be great. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2014-01-04 13:00 You could start with setting the db location at runtime (not designtime) by getting the application directory using something like Code: [Select]ExtractFilePath(ParamStr(0))+'johnsdatabase.fdb'; ... and yes, a txt file could be useful, too. An example of using a text file (though for sqldb, not zeos) can be found here: http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/SQLdb_Tutorial3 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- johnsolomon · 2014-01-05 05:09 Thank you. I have made the changes to the program that now I no longer get that error. There must be something wrong in the components that I am using.
