SQLdb; container for Boolean in Firebird is smallint in Lazarus lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mangakissa · 2013-12-31 15:48 If you want a boolean instead of integer, a container can be created. So it looks like a boolean. But if create fielddefs @designtime, why do I get a TSmallint and not a tBoolean as TField? In this case container in Firebird is useless. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- goodname · 2013-12-31 16:26 What version of Firebird are you using. The boolean data type was mapped to a smallint in earlier versions. http://www.firebirdfaq.org/faq12/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mangakissa · 2013-12-31 17:43 use FB 2.5 I know there will be typed, but why shall I create a 'virtual' datafield as boolean in FB if the result is still smallint?. If it is, containers are useless. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2014-01-01 10:24 Quote from: mangakissa on December 31, 2013, 04:48:29 pmIn this case container in Firebird is useless. Never heard of containers in Firebird. Do you mean a domain? Even if you use a domain, it's still not a boolean and/or "looks like a boolean". It's the data type you defined with the restrictions applied by the domain. There's no support in sqldb for booleans for Firebird because Firebird does not support them in any stable version. I know e.g. the Zeos and .Net driver for Firebird does allow using boolean datatypes using e.g. integer fields as backend storage, but sqldb does not support that. No. The boolean data type is not mapped to smallint in sqldb. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- goodname · 2014-01-01 16:15 Quote from: BigChimp on January 01, 2014, 11:24:00 am Quote from: goodname on December 31, 2013, 05:26:26 pmWhat version of Firebird are you using. May have made a mistake there as I'm not sure what mapping if any is really happening. I know that this has nothing to due with sqldb. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2014-01-02 06:43 Ok. AFAIK there is no mapping to boolean in Firebird DDL (or the Firebird C client DLL) either. Any boolean datatype support for current stable comes from custom drivers (.Net driver, Java JDBC driver, Zeos etc)
