SQLQuery; desinger must have transaction lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mangakissa · 2013-12-23 14:36 This works correctly: Code: [Select]begin   try     fSQLPuzzle := TSQLQuery.Create(self);     fSQLPuzzle.DataBase := SQLConnection1;     fSQLPuzzle,SQL.text := 'SELECT  * FROM table';     fSQLPuzzle.ReadOnly := true;     fSQLPuzzle.Active := true;     result := true;   except     result := false;   end; end; I put a SQLQuery on a datamodule without TSQLQuery.transaction in designmode. The compiler won't compile, because transaction is not filled in. Why can I create TSQLQuery in runtime without a transaction. I don't need one. Just reading a select and put it in memory (TSQLQuery is an object of  TCustomBufDataset). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taazz · 2013-12-23 15:14 erm that's impossible. There is no way that the compiler stopped working because a SQLquery does not have its transaction set. In any case the transaction is required in design and runtime and for read only operations like the select, the only way your code is going to work is if the Sqlconnection1 has the Transaction property set and the sqlquery uses it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mangakissa · 2013-12-24 13:41 You're right. Wrong information. Application is compiling, but when opening a table Lazarus/FPC is coming with message Code: [Select]Transaction not setCreate TSQLquery as object in runtime doesn't give this message at all
