Anybody Interested on Developing a Object Oriented SQL Server lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ThouWhy · 2013-03-22 23:52 Hi! Greetings to all Fellow Lazarians! I would like to ask if anybody is interested in developing an object oriented sql server that will be native to the lazarus ide. Can we form a new project team here? Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- teos · 2013-03-28 22:43 I have build a database server, announced in the forum but that leads to no response. I suppose all wanna stick to the (mostly platform dependant) SQL server engines which all seem to be windows dependant one way or the other. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- denver · 2013-03-30 20:37 sql server ? a lot of free sql server available now e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, Firebird..etc. It is more preferable to build a persistence layer ( framework ) for free pascal to work with sql server or TCP/IP middleware server ( like DataSnap in Delphi ), which is more useful than create a sql server from scratch. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tudi_x · 2014-01-12 09:39 Hi All, What I think the database market is missing right now is a free open source reliable column oriented RDBMS. For analytics on low cardinality and archiving there are many advantages of a column model. The database should have the SQLite size and be column oriented allowing fast read analytic queries. If somebody develops it I would gladly test it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Graeme · 2014-01-12 10:16 Quote from: denver on March 30, 2013, 09:37:21 pmIt is more preferable to build a persistence layer ( framework ) for free pascal to work with sql server or TCP/IP middleware server ( like DataSnap in Delphi ) Then please take a look at tiOPF [http://www.tiopf.com] - it is probably the oldest Object Persistent Framework written in Delphi / Object Pascal (open sourced since 1999), and supports many database backends, various database connection components, remote and local persistence and even includes a user interface integration pattern (Model-GUI-Mediator aka Model-View-Controller) for VCL, LCL and fpGUI toolkits. Do you still work on that? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JD · 2014-01-22 15:46 Quote from: teos on March 28, 2013, 11:43:38 pmI have build a database server, announced in the forum but that leads to no response.
