hi dear

i am newbie in Lazarus but i  have good working experience in Delphi
programming.
i going to connecting to database (my sql) with Lazarus ,and i would
like to understand which way is better (is standard-being easy not
matter) to connect to DB?

first way:
SQLTransaction-SQLQuery-IBConnection-Datasource

second way:

Zcomponnet-ZEOSDBO

which is better? I don't really know. I"am using it with Delphi since
more than 10 years. I like it and i prefere it on Lazarus too. I tried
Lazarus components but don't liked, you have to take for every DB
another Component.
ZEOS has one Component (TZConnection) for all databases, easy to learn
and you can change your DB on the fly. And Zeos has TZTable, TZTable
is easy to you use "Tableeditor". Too many also profess. developers
using it especially Delphi programmers. I think it is actuall and will
be never dead-project.
Install it test it. Take Version 7.x, They are working more on this
version to make it release version.

If you use ZEOS with Firebird and you have Autoinc-Fields than read
this:

Read the part with TZSequence. You need need it for TZTable.

I hope you understand something from my text. I have terrible english
and i don't want check my errors. ( lazy  )

On SQLDB there is also TSQLConnector (not TSQLConnection) that is a
generic database connector. Never used it but I's there

Personally i prefer Zeos, cause support IBEvents for Firebird.

FPC trunk supports Firebird and PostgreSQL events as well since a
while...
