dbgrid and memo fields question

When using the dbgrid where all the fields are auto generated, what is
the best
practice to get memo/text fields to show actual text instead of
[MEMO]?

I know if I predefine the field defs for the grid I can use the
settext/gettext events.

SetText/GetTex are the only way to show data from a memo field in the
dbgrid.
you can write an after open event on the dataset linked to the grid
where you walk down the fields collection and if a field is TDBMemo
then set its GetText and SetText event to something you have already
written.

DBGrid shows fields as MEMO that are "TEXT" in the database. Varchar
is the field type that shows strings (ftString)
