[SOLVED] SQLite3Connection, maybe a bug? lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Elmug · 2012-06-29 00:45 I am doing a learning application, in which I try to have it as dynamic as possible, meaning hardly any thing is hard-coded. The database name is entered, too, at the start. If the database exists, moving along is fine. But if the database name typed in does NOT exist, then the application CREATES the file with the inexistent database name given, example XXX.s3db is CREATED in the current folder. Upon closing the app, the said file is of zero size. I find it weird that if the database does not exist, the database component would actually create the file. But perhaps there is some good explanation for this, and I would appreciate learning about it. For me, though, if the filename given does not exist, it should not be created. Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Lacak2 · 2012-06-29 04:38 Yes it is default SQLite3 behavior. http://www.sqlite.org/c3ref/open.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Elmug · 2012-06-29 05:59 Quote from: Lacak2 on June 29, 2012, 06:38:53 amYes it is default SQLite3 behavior. http://www.sqlite.org/c3ref/open.html Thank you Lacak2! I am glad to hear that's normal for SQLite to do and not a Lazarus bug or problem. I recall now that if one calls SQLite directly from a DOS terminal,  with a Name as parameter, it CREATES a database.
