Strange behavior of Laz with x64 Firebird lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LA.Center · 2012-06-02 07:34 This is the situation, if you have a SQL syntax error then 32 bit Laz will report the error back from the server correctly, but 64 bit laz will only show a dialog with "C-Control" as text and crash. we tested this for both Firebird 32 and 64 and if there is no SQL Syntax error it works just fine. It seems like Laz 64 bit can not handle the error message reported back from the server. We are using SQLDB. Any solution or hint how to solve this is highly appreciated. Thx ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2012-06-02 08:20 There's a known bug on Win64 with Laz64 embedded that shows this behaviour: http://bugs.freepascal.org/view.php?id=17360 AFAIR, it has to do with FPC on Win64 that handles exceptions incorrectly. Workaround: IIRC, you might want to catch not only the database exceptions, but also all exceptions. Also I remember a patch in mantis that uses a different way of exception handling; you might want to try that (I think it had to do with SEH - Structured Exception Handling) Just FYI, what operating system, FPC version, Firebird version are you running? You are running Firebird server, not embedded right? Perhaps you could open a new bug report for that (please specify fbclient.dll/.so version if possible to make it easier to reproduce). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LA.Center · 2012-06-03 07:03 @BigChimp, thx I think this is a bug and it bugs the hell our of my project event if I try to catch all exceptions, which mean even within the try statement that dialog comes up and crashes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2012-06-03 11:01 Shame. Perhaps you should still do this if you haven't already: Quote from: BigChimp on June 02, 2012, 10:20:32 amJust FYI, what operating system, FPC version, Firebird version are you running?
