Connecting to MySQL Client 5.1.52 lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lefti2003 · 2012-03-21 01:27 Hi,  I am using the latest Lazarus 9.30.4 with the latest fpc version 2.6.0. I tried to use the various MySQL40Connection1, MySQL41Connection1 and MySQL50Connection1 but all failed. I get an error message as attached. Any ideas recommendations would be helpful. Thanks Lefti ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2012-03-21 06:23 Have you searched through the forum? I remember quite some posts about mysql 5.1 lately... The error message shows FPC found MySQL Client 5.1.52. You tried connectors other than 5.1.52 If that is the case, there are three possibilities: Try and see if a newer version of FPC/Lazarus offers support for MySQL 5.1 (I thought support for 5.1 was released a while ago)Install an older version of the client that matches one of your available connectors. IIRC, MySQL server and client versions do not need to match exactly.Switch to another database engine like Firebird or PostgreSQL. See other threads about why mysql might not be a good idea as they keep changing their API which means that connectors must be updated for different client versions Good luck, BigChimp ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2012-03-21 12:16 Quote from: BigChimp on March 21, 2012, 07:23:09 amThe error message shows FPC found MySQL Client 5.1.52. People that use mysql like pain apparently. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JD · 2012-03-21 13:22 Quote from: marcov on March 21, 2012, 01:16:22 pmQuoteSwitch to another database engine like Firebird or PostgreSQL. Clients are not much inclined to change their existing databases. However I only recommend Firebird or PostgreSQL whenever I have a choice in the matter. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- denver · 2012-03-21 14:37 Quote from: lefti2003 on March 21, 2012, 02:27:32 am I am using the latest Lazarus 9.30.4 with the latest fpc version 2.6.0. But usually if you specify on the bill that you doubly charge for that, suddenly there are options :-) The customer is always right, but doesn't always pay the same fee for that privilege. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JD · 2012-03-21 15:48 Quote from: marcov on March 21, 2012, 04:03:03 pmQuote from: JD on March 21, 2012, 02:22:59 pmThat is precisely why I avoid MySQL but sometimes it is forced upon us because a large majority of Web databases are MySQL. Be careful that you don't price yourself out of a job. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lefti2003 · 2012-03-21 17:20 Hi All,  Thanks for your suggestions. I have I believe the latest lazarus and fpc Version 9.30.4 Data 2012-03-14 FPC version 2.6.0 SVN Revision 35971 I do not see a MySQL51Connection the latest is MtSQL50Connection, unless it is buried somewhere and if so how would I find it and make it a icon to drop in my app. Is there a patch or something. I am not familiar with zeolib. Any suggestions? Thanks Lefti
