Firebird & Lazarus problem with char field size

Hi

I am using Firebird 2.1.3 (win 32) and Lazarus 0.9.30
When my program apends and then edits a Char(x) field using:
          Query1.FieldbyName('FIELD')value:=Edit1.Caption
and then saves using: Post, ApplyUpdates and Transaction.Commit, the
character saved is one character less than x. I can work arround this
by creating Char fields larger than the ones needed but would like to
know if this is a Firebird or Lazarus  bug, or if I am doing something
wrong.

By the way the strings are saved correctly in the same table if I do
it manualy, using Firebird ISQL and the INSERT command in the DOS
screen.

May be, that it is already fixed by http://svn.freepascal.org/cgi-

Not sure how to implement patch but downloaded it (fields.inc) changed
the name of the old fields.inc file in the source\packages\fcl-
db\src\base folder and ran Lazarus to recompile my program. Problem
remains.

This is not sufficient, you must add into your Project
options/Compiler options/Paths also "source\packages\fcl-db\src\base"
etc.
May be, that easier way is to download any Lazarus snapshot from
ftp://www.hu.freepascal.org/pub/lazarus/snapshots/
with fpc-2.6.1 or 2.7.1

SOLVED by Lacak2 !! 

Downloaded 0.9.31 35407 fpc 2.7.1 but for some reason could not get
the IDE to display. Finaly gave up and downloaded 0.9.31 35407 fpc
2.6.0. Seems to work fine and my program no longer cuts the data
before the end.
