connecting to postgresql

i have set up postgres in root to allow myself to use postgresql in a
user account as a superuser...is this correct??

i have also tried to use pgsql in lazarus to connect to my database,
but it wont

Might help if you:
- search the wiki, there's some instructions for postgresql
- search through the forum archive (there are multiple posts on
postgresql)
- actually tell us what's wrong (how have you tried to use pgsql in
Lazarus, what happened or didn't happen, etc), what operating system
(Ubuntu?), version of Lazarus, FreePascal, etc.
- troubleshoot first to make sure postgresql is working as it should
(e.g. use postgresql tools to connect to server, create a database
etc)
