Lazarus, Zeos and Oracle issue lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jdlynn · 2011-08-11 17:59 I'm running Lazarus on Windows 7 64 and get the following error when changing the zconnect connected property to "true".   I verified that the Oracle XE databases is up and running.  I have an environmental variable "ORACLE_HOME" set to the Oracle home and the the PATH variable has the ORACLE_HOME/bin set as well.  "None of the dynamic libraries can be found: oci.dll".  I have the oci.dll in the directory with the project as well as in sysWOW64. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong or how to fix?? Thanks, Jim ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IndianaJones · 2011-08-11 20:06 I really dont know but, did you try to copy that dll to System or System32 directory, if Windows 7 still support that directories. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jdlynn · 2011-08-12 02:27 copied oci.dll to system and system32.  Still getting the same error. Thanks, Jim ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2011-08-12 06:14 Don't know if this applies to your situation, but on regular Oracle you get oci.dll plus a truckload of dlls/files it depends on (found e.g. oraociei11.dll, oraocci11.dll, orannzsbb11.dll, ociw32.dll in one of my directories). Other maybe painfully obvious remark: you have to use 32 bit dlls if you compile 32 bit Lazarus/FPC programs; 64 bit dll if compiling 64 bit dlls, so make sure they match. 32 bit dlls should NOT go into your system32 directory (contrary to the name, it's for 64 bit files); they should go into syswow64. As for a system directory, I see it exists on my Vista x64, but it's empty... As a troubleshooting step, you could try to write a test program using regular sqldb instead of zeos, try to cut out one more layer. Also you could use a program like sqlplus (if available for Oracle XE, no experience with that) in your application directory to see if connectivity works. HTH ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jdlynn · 2011-08-15 23:05 I downloaded the Oracle Instant client and copied all the dlls and sym files to the project directory and sysWOW64.  Restarted Windows and Lazarus.  When I try to change "connect" to "yes" getting the same oci.dll error message. Went into cmd and startup sqlplus without any problems (sqlplus system@xe) Any ideas??  Can anyone confirm that zeos really works with Oracle databases?? Thanks, Jim ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jdlynn · 2011-08-16 02:49 BigChimp had the answer.  I was using 64bit Lazarus/freepascal and the XE database was 32 bit.  I uninstalled 64bit Lazarus and installed 32bit Lazarus and everything worked as advertised. Thanks, Jim
