Verifying proper connection Rx for using DataAware Components lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mdlueck · 2011-08-10 14:36 It has been many years since I went through Borland C++Builder training. I found this brief tutorial extremely helpful for at least getting the DataAware components to preview some data from SQL Server. "SQLdb Package \ Using the SQLdb Package" http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/SQLdb_Package#Using_the_SQLdb_Packa ge I do not recall there being a dual path between the Datasource and Connection objects required. However in Laz it seems necessary to put both a Query and Transaction objects in parallel between the Datasource and Connection. Is this really the way the DataAware components are suppose to work in Laz? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Arbee · 2011-08-11 06:26 This is not so much a Laz requirement as an SQLDB one. If you would use ZEOS you'll find there is no need for this "triangle".   Transactions in ZEOS do exist of course, but you only use it when needed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mdlueck · 2011-08-11 12:04 Quote from: Arbee on August 11, 2011, 08:26:59 amThis is not so much a Laz requirement as an SQLDB one. Aaahhh, so the Borland classes were built up differently than SQLdb - Got it! Then I will be content to let SQLdb behave as it wishes and not rack my brain trying to remember C++Builder from the mid 90's!
