Connect to MySQL on WEB server lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mirce.vladimirov · 2011-07-24 13:54 I can't connect my desktop application to a MYSQL database located on a web-server. My web-hosting provider granted me up to five MySQL databases, so I created one But i cant establish connection from console mode nor from my lazarus application,  it's only possible via the web-interface provided by the hosting company (some PHP stuff ). Is it related to Lazarus or mysql or web-hosting ? Any ideas how to overcome this ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2011-07-24 14:43 Web hosting. Suppose the best way is to get another web host. You could also write a web service in PHP, and use a Lazarus application to talk to that web service. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Dennis · 2011-07-24 15:26 Your need a hosting provider that allows you to create: Access Hosts. With the Access Hosts you can allow MySQL from allowed IP addresses. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MarkMLl · 2020-12-15 21:42 Quote from: itom on December 15, 2020, 07:23:08 pmHosting the databases and applications on the same web server is not unusual. On the Cloudways PHP hosting platform which supports Laravel Framework with other PHP based applications, you can easily enable MySQL remote access by following the few steps which provided in this below given link. / @itom do you appreciate that you're commenting to a thread which hasn't seen activity for nine years? Notwithstanding that, I'd suggest that whether exposing your backend database on a web server is common or not it's not a particularly good idea.
