DB Newbie needs some more help lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MaVeRiCk2060 · 2011-04-27 06:19 First of all thanks to all your help with my problem connecting to my MSSQL database. Now I have another problem. After connecting I can do all kinds of things with the database, but I have a problem with the codepage probably. Everywhere that I have german special characters like ä ö ü ß I only get a ? displayed. Anybody some idea, where I have to set the correct codepage, or what do I have to do, to get this running? Thanks MaVeRiCk ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zoran · 2011-04-27 06:33 First, try just setting the IBConnection.CharSet property to UTF8. If it does not help, try the workaround as described here: http://www.laz arus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,12898.msg67288/topicseen.html#new Your db encoding is probably Win1252 (west european), so instead of CP1251ToUTF8 and UTF8ToCP1251 functions from LConvEncoding unit, which are used there, you should use CP1252ToUTF8 and UTF8ToCP1252 functions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MaVeRiCk2060 · 2011-04-28 11:38 Hello Zoran, Do you know a place where I can find a relatively good Documentation for the database Components? It is really hard to code, if one doesn't exactly know what has to be set and what the possible values are. thanks for help. MaVeRiCk Apart from relatively poor documentation in lazarus wiki, I could not find anything else about SQLdb. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Lacak2 · 2011-05-02 07:38 Which database connection component do you use to connect to MSSQL ? I guess, that TODBCConnection, does not ? Then you can not use CharSet property because ODBC does not use it. Only way ATM is IMHO encode/decode on the fly in TField's events OnGetText, OnSetText
