Installing FBLib Firebird Library lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- samsuser · 2011-04-11 04:52 Hi when installing FBLib I get a message  : C:\lazarus_doc\FBLib Firebird Library\fblib\FBLDataset.pas(184,21) Error: No member is provided to access property How to solve the problem ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Leledumbo · 2011-04-11 06:07 FBLib is quite old in age (latest release was about 5 years ago), many things have changed since then. Use SQLDB / ZEOS instead. Or if you insist, you could try fixing the source yourself. AFAIR, that error comes when an invalid property access is done (i.e. trying to write read-only property or vice versa). Please post the problematic statement and the related class definition. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JimBeam · 2011-04-11 07:12 In addition to what Leledumbo said: there are 2 versions of FBLib: the original and one that used to be maintained by Graeme Geldenhuys as part of the tiopf framework. Don't know whether he still does so as he might have switched to SQLDB, too.... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2011-04-11 08:22 Quote from: JimBeam on April 11, 2011, 09:12:15 amIn addition to what Leledumbo said: there are 2 versions of FBLib: the original and one that used to be maintained by Graeme Geldenhuys as part of the tiopf framework. My guess would be that he doesn't use SQLIB, since TIOPF must work with Delphi too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JimBeam · 2011-04-11 12:15 TiOPF and FBLib (latest update 11 months ago): http://tiopf.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/tiopf/3rdParty/FBLib/Trunk/ Quote from: marcov on April 11, 2011, 10:22:29 amI doubt that. TiOPF and SQLDB: the wiki page mentions you can use SQLDB with tiOPF: http://wiki.freepascal.org/tiOPF; I think Graeme only uses FPC, but we'd have to ask him ---------------------------------------------------------------------- samsuser · 2011-04-11 21:35 thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Graeme · 2012-10-25 22:39 Quote from: JimBeam on April 11, 2011, 02:15:16 pmTiOPF and FBLib (latest update 11 months ago): http://tiopf.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/tiopf/3rdParty/FBLib/Trunk/ Rather late than never with my reply. [sorry I don't really read the forums] I have recently noticed some issues with FBLib and 64-bit FPC 2.6.0 - I'm in the process of resolving them. Also as part of the tiOPF repository clean-up, I am going to move FBLib into a new repository of its own on GitHub or SourceForge. Quote tiOPF and SQLDB: the wiki page mentions you can use SQLDB with tiOPF: http://wiki.freepascal.org/tiOPF; I think Graeme only uses FPC, but we'd have to ask him  I personally only use FPC. The tiOPF project still supports FPC and Delphi. As for tiOPF's database support - it supports just about any database and database components I could find - if it doesn't yet exist, it takes about 30-60 minutes to add a new persistence layer. Anyway, I have switched (for our company products) to tiOPF+SqlDB for the last few years, but the automated build server still runs the tiOPF unit test suite against many difference database servers and various database components. eg: Zeos, IBX, SqlDB, FBLib etc. Comment to Marco: tiOPF doesn't just support one persistence layer, it has about 15 of them. It's up to the developer to decide which persistence layer and which database components they want to activate for their specific projects. When using tiOPF with FPC, the XML and SqlDB+Firebird persistence layers are activated by default in the tiopf.lpk lazarus package - but that is purely for my convenience. A simple change in the LINK_xxx compiler defines and you can use something else.
