Show 2 columns in DBLookupComboBox like in MS Access lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JD · 2011-03-29 18:48 Hi there everyone, Is it possible to show 2 columns in a DBLookupComboBox drop down list? That is instead of showing just one lookup field in the list, it shows two. For example suppose the DBLookupComboBox was made to lookup customer table. I want to show the customer number & the customer name in the list. But when the combo box has not been clicked, all it shows is the customer number. I can create a special query that fills the combobox at runtime but saving the user selection later might be tricky. I could create a special field that concatenates the customer number & the customer name but I don't want to alter the table. Any suggestions will be welcome. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SteveF · 2011-04-01 16:33 I'll be waiting to see any other replies; I've struggled with this myself. I finally ended up using DBGrids doctored to look like list boxes.  They do the job well, and it actually turned out to be a good solution -- but combo boxes were what I was used to & wound up banging my head against the wall for awhile trying to identically recreate what I've been doing these many years in Access.  It's been a lesson in "the Lazarus/Delphi way", as opposed to "the Access way". Steve ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Mando · 2011-04-01 18:25 have you tried to use DrawItem event of the DBLookupComboBox? I haven't, but  I think it may be a solution. You can  manually draw both columns in the item list. Regards. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DmytroLev · 2013-02-01 21:17 I had the same problem - needed to combine text from two fields in lookup. Finally, I just created additional CALCULATED field to my ZTable (using ZeosDBO) directly from IDE (not changing the DB structure itself), and in OnCalcFields event I just merge the text from those two fields and put the result into the new calculated field. Then, in the 'List Field' property of DBLookupComboBox I set that new calculated field. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- brunello · 2013-02-01 22:09 > I had the same problem - needed to combine text from two fields in lookup. and 'can do this with the RX component RxDBLookupCombo.LookupDisplay = field1;field2 sorry for my english, hello Brunello ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BigChimp · 2013-02-02 08:01 Nice one, Brunello, thanks a lot for posting!
