Tbufdataset lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- liewald · 2011-01-18 14:47 Version : 0.9.28.2 - FPC Version : 2.4.0  - x86_64-linux-gtk 2 beta Hi All I'm having problems with Tbufdataset I'm creation the dataset using  RESLT      := Tbufdataset.Create(self);  RESLT.Name := 'RESLT'; I am then trying to create the stringfields using : RESLT.Fields.Clear;   newfieldname := 'RS_Number';   R_Newfield   := TStringField.Create(RESLT);   with R_newfield do   begin     Name      := 'RESLT_' + IntToStr(reslt.fieldcount);     Fieldname := newfieldname;     fieldkind := fkdata;     Size      := 20;     DataSet   := RESLT;   end;   newfieldname := 'Delta';   R_Newfield   := TStringField.Create(self);   with R_newfield do   begin     Name      := 'RESLT_' + IntToStr(reslt.fieldcount);     Fieldname := newfieldname;     fieldkind := fkdata;     Size      := 20;     DataSet   := RESLT;   end;   RESLT.Active := True; I am then opening a tab delimited file and pulling off  the second value and trying to store it in the table : assignfile(inputfile, infilename);   reset(inputfile);   while not EOF(inputfile) do   begin     instring := '';     readln(inputfile, instring);     Delete(instring, 1, pos(#9, instring));     SNPName := copy(instring, 1, pos(#9, instring) - 1);     RESLT.Append;     RESLT.FieldByName('RS_Number').AsString := SNPName;     RESLT.FieldByName('Delta').AsString     := '0';     RESLT.post;   end; the problem is that although the SNPname is being parsed correctly when it is stored in the RESLT table and retrieved it comes back as garbage as if it's being recovered from a random memory address. Any Ideas? it's driving me nuts
