So its perfectly ok to have a 32 bit client connect to a 64 bit server. Or vice versa. Don't know about the best componentset. Just search this forum for their names and you will find a lot of info... John ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TheOne · 2010-12-15 20:59 Thanks for replay  John  , actually i meant : connectivity from my app in 32 bit to database  in Linux 64 bit thanks again ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JimBeam · 2010-12-18 10:40 Depends on what you mean exactly: 1. Linux server with Firebird separate from computer running your program: just use a 32 bit environment (e.g. 32 bit Firebird client library and SQLDB or whatever component you want). 2. Linux server with Firebird is the machine your program is running on. 2.1 Conceivably you could install the 32 bit Firebird client libraries. Haven't done that yet. You might even achieve some kind of embedded .so setup (IIRC, there's an entry in the Firebird FAQ at http://www.firebirdsql.org 2.2 You could convert your code to 64 bit and use your components to call the 64 bit Firebird library.
