LazReport: format variable

Still struggling with LazReport quirkiness (but it has great
potential).

I had a variable ([DSVariable."Price"]) and then I click format and
select numeric 1 234,50 but nothing happens either in the design or in
the preview. Also no money format?

What am I missing?
