sqldblaz package not staying loaded (Linux)

I installed the subject MySQL components package, installed the
necessary libsqldev libraries in Ubuntu, added the connection
component from the component pallet to a form, set its properties,
clicked True for the connect and everything looked fine, i.e, no
errors. (Before I had gotten an error on "True-click" because the
libsqldev libraries were not installed.) Fine that is until I reopened
Lazarus the next day. The project couldn't load the connection
component and the MySQL components tab was missing from the pallet.

So, I reinstalled the package again, Lazarus compiled and then
restarted and everything was as it should be. I then closed and
restarted Lazarus and the same missing-component problem was back.

When I choose Package/Configure installed packages... the package
shows as SQLDBLaz 1.0.1, but the  components do not show.

What am I doing wrong?

Well, well, I found if I installed the package as root everything
worked as expected.

Linux...aaarrrrgh
