reading .cds files

Hi,
sorry if this question is off topic.
is there a way to read .cds files (on linux or windows) and convert
them to another format like sql,csv or .xls
I have a bunch of .cds files together with a .cmp file and i don't
know how to read them

Isn't .cds simply XML?

maybe TMemDataset.LoadFromFile  ?   (can't try out at this point)

it isn't xml, the text is separeted by non ascii characters
Perhaps i'm asking too much but could you post a little program that
will read and print them?
I'm an absolute beginner in lazarus
