FBDataSet lazarus / 16-Databases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- iru · 2010-11-07 22:58 Gentlefolk, Can anyone inform me where i can obtain and download the latest version of FBDataSet? I have chased it from the "Alex"  (http://alexs75.narod.ru/fpc/fbdataset/) and UIB (www.progdigy.com) websites with no success. Is it version 1.28?? I have a version of this but it has issues with it's old jedi history. Any help appreciated, Ian. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bertherngreen · 2010-11-08 05:40 Hi, I got it from svn://svn.shamangrad.net/FBDataSet/trunk by using Qsvn. I had to add a 'uses' uiblib to the fbcustomdatasetpropeditorl.pas file to recover from: C:\lazarus\components\fbdataset\fbcustomdatasetpropeditorl.pas(85,22) Error: Identifier not found "tpRead" C:\lazarus\components\fbdataset\fbcustomdatasetpropeditorl.pas(85,39) Error: Identifier not found "tpReadCommitted" C:\lazarus\components\fbdataset\fbcustomdatasetpropeditorl.pas(85,53) Error: Identifier not found "tpRecVersion" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- iru · 2010-11-08 19:21 Thanks for the response. I had missed something in the svn process. Downloaded, added the 'uses' change you specified and am now fighting my way through errors in fbparams.pas, 'jv' errors, etc. Ian ---------------------------------------------------------------------- iru · 2010-11-11 19:31 Gentlefolk, Rather discouraged. I am working my way through various means of accessing a FireBird database using Lazarus. Using Lazarus 9.29/27377. Problems whatever I try: Lazarus and ZEOS 7, obscure problem with always exiting a DBGrid on any post. Only occurs on one grid of multiple grids on a form Lazarus and SQLDB, SQLQuery error about missing field on appending new record to DBGrid. Lazarus and UIB, UIB is excellent but I need a 'writeable' dataset. All sorts of weird compile errors when attempting to install 'Alexs' FBdataset package. Any suggestions??  Ian. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Lacak2 · 2010-11-12 03:50 Quote from: iru on November 11, 2010, 08:31:10 pmLazarus and SQLDB, SQLQuery error about missing field on appending new record to DBGrid. Can you provide reproducible example of such error ? May be, that it can be fixed ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zoran · 2010-11-12 05:13 You haven't tried MDO (Mercury database objects). These descend from TDataSet, so I guess they are what you call "writeable datasets". http://sourceforge.net/projects/mdo/develop Get the svn version (svn co https://mdo.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/mdo mdo), which is adjusted to work well in Lazarus. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marcov · 2010-11-13 08:02 Quote from: iru on November 11, 2010, 08:31:10 pmLazarus and SQLDB, SQLQuery error about missing field on appending new record to DBGrid. You named the Lazarus version, but not the Free Pascal version. A significant part of the SQLDB framework is in FPC. Make sure you have the newest FPC version (2.4.2, as of today) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- iru · 2010-11-14 07:38 Gentlefolk, Thanks for the responses. I am encouraged. Lazarus/FPC versions are: 0.9.29/2.4.3. There are multiple ways of killing a cat. I have reorganised the application main form using frames and am slowly re-building the required input data verificaion code, so far so good and no extraneous exits from the DBgrid. I will try and reproduce the SQLDB field error problem. MDO, will have a look it. Thanks, Ian.
